From Jerusalem’s hills to Ramallah, Bethlehem, and Gaza, Nol Collective; a fashion collective based in Palestine, collaborates with artisans across the West Bank to create its garments. The documentary partly follows the journey of some of these garments’ completion, while tracing the lives and stories of the constellation of artisans who make them. As they work, the film reveals how the Israeli occupation restricts movement, limits access to materials, and threatens their livelihoods.
The film captures the intricate duality of life in the West Bank, where artisans continue to practice their slow, meticulous craft in moments of stillness and tradition, while the journey to reach them is marked by tension and uncertainty. Between the delicate rhythms of embroidery and weaving and the harsh reality of crossing checkpoints, the film reveals the resilience woven into every stitch. As a result of the Israeli occupation, the beautiful tradition of embroidery and weaving has become layered with struggle and resistance.
